Striped Bass Fishing for striped bass is the most popular by far. They are a tough fighting fish that ranges in size from 16 to more than 40 inches. Many different tactics can be deployed on this magnificent gamefish including; casting, trolling, light tackle and fly fishing to name a few. Bluefish TOUGH! What else can we say about the bluefish? Bluefish generally begin to show up in our waters around mid to late june. A favorite of Captain Ross' because fishing for bluefish can be fast and furious! Fishing for striped bass can often result in a couple of bluefish because they share simmilar feeding habbits. Mackerel These fast swimming torpedo's are as much fun to catch as the big stripers that eat them! Often a trip will begin with a trip outside of the river to catch these little guys, and it is well worth the time because BIG stripers love mackerel! Cod & Haddock These tasty fish are plentiful in the offshore waters surrounding the Merrimack River. After a 20 nautical mile run out to Jefferies Ledge, sink a clam or cod jig and hang on to your rod! It may be a long battle but it will all be worth it when you get fresh filets back home to the kitchen!
